Sol dress
Dress for “Time” class project at Parsons. I decided to focus mine on solar time.
Shadows and sunlight were the first mode of recording and understanding time, a primitive sense of structure. This dress is a uv sensitive garment that changes color in the sun. It is sewn loosely on the top of each circle so they cast shadows based on the sun's strength. It flows in the wind and resembles mesmerizing sun glint on the surface of water. It represents the passing of time as dictated by the sun, blue in the daytime/sunlight and white in the night/shade.
